In addition to the personalized rehabilitation program that the Serafico Institute offers to its residents, special spaces and services are also available and provides real life opportunities.

Sensory park and horticultural therapy

The outdoor spaces have been adapted and developed to offer opportunities for recreation and play tailored to the needs of children and young people, as well as more structured opportunities for growing and cultivating all the vegetables that the kitchen needs for meal preparation.

Multisensory room

Used for people with severe intellectual disabilities, the room provides a “calming” and “stimulating” environment based on the five senses utilizing: light effects, colors, sounds, music and fragrances.

Pet therapy

Considered a “gentle” therapy, based on the interaction between children and a trained dog, this intervention integrates, strengthens and supports traditional therapies and can applied to patients suffering from complex pathologies with goals of promoting behavioral, physical, cognitive, psychosocial and psychological-emotional improvement.

Hippotherapy

An initial approach to the horse and the environment is carried out on the ground, and later while mounted on the animal, then subsequently accompanied by an instructor who tries to facilitate possible active conduction of the horse. Under the supervision of the therapist, this intervention aims to achieve specific technical and rehabilitative goals according to the pre-established therapeutic program.
